Reality Check

The five, glossy MCAT prep books sitting on my floor at the moment brought a new sense of reality to this journey. Those four letters glaring back at me is unreal. It's great. So, I'm gaining momentum as far as preparation. My friend brought up a good point. She said that since I have more time over the summer, I can start studying for my MCATS now rather than have to deal with it like a crazy person during the school year. I'm sure I'l have much to do once my classes begin. No problem with lessening the load a bit. I owe her a lot for letting me use her books. She's probably only the third person that knows about my plan but that is probably because it was assumed when we were in class together. 90% of the people in class were med school bound anyway.

I'm not really sure where to start tho. It's been a few years since I've taken any science classes so tackling the science section of the MCAT at this point might be against the odds. I can review it at the very least. i'll start with the verbal section, just to get a feel for it though. I have books!! I can prepare!! YES!!

Now What ?

So the last email contact that I had with Dr. Bascom Palmer was me asking him what the address was to his clinic and to the OR. I emailed him last week. No reply yet.

Since I emailed him, I'd taken the time to do my own research in anticipation that he wouldnt get back to me in time. I was right, he didnt. According to plans, we set up a Tues/Thurs schedule. Tomorrow is Tues and I didnt get any word from him. I guess we didnt pin point WHICH tuesday. Does it matter? I know people are busy but honestly, who takes 4 days to reply to a simple email?

At this point, I'm going to pursue other shadowing options. I really want to do it over the summer, when i'll have the most time. So I hope I can nail something soon.

On another note: I think I tracked down an organic text book that I can use! It's imperative that I review my orgo before school starts. I'm not going to retake Orgo I, I'm just going to move on to Orgo II. But since It's been a few years, I should go over the basics. I called my old classmate today and i was going to go over there and pick up the book but I didnt hear back from her.

I'm not making too much progress at the moment, but im keeping my hopes up.
